When playing against a Terran player you must always keep an eye out for reaper rushes early on, to counter this make sure you keep a few zerglings close to your drones. After this you must focus on a few different Terran strategies, which we will cover below.
The most common Terran strategy is to use the marine/marauder with either dropships or tanks or in some cases both. The best way for Zerg to counter this is to stay away from roaches and go zerglings with the speed upgrade (speedlings) and hydralisks. Roaches do very poorly against marauders, because marauders do extra damage against armored units and roaches are armored. The key here is to expand early and keep Terran from expanding with your speedlings. After you have established your second base just keep building up your army and starve out the Terran player. Be sure to keep an eye on all of the extra possible base locations and if Terran tries to expand take it out quickly. After the Terran's main base runs out of minerals he will have no choice but to attack you in which case you should have no trouble winning.
A few other things you need to watch for when playing Terran are the dropship attacks and the cloaked banshee attacks on your main base. To defend against this just make sure you get an overseer and keep him around you base and keep scouts around the map so you will see the dropships coming and be ready for them. But ultimately the key to beating Terran is to starve them; if you let a good Terran player expand they are very hard to kill as they have a very good combination of units to handle anything that Zerg players can throw at them. We have a harder time beating Terran then we do beating a Protoss player.
Becoming an advanced Starcraft 2 player is very challenging and confusing. I purchased the Starcraft 2 Advanced Strategy Guide from http://www.Star2Pros.com and I have been very impressed with the strategies they teach. I would highly recommend it to any Starcraft 2 player who wants to get to the top of the Diamond Ladders, I think this guide might be the only one of its kind.
Anyways, good luck to all of you and I hope to see you on BattleNet!
