Starcraft 2 - Zerg Vs Protoss Basic Strategy

When playing against a Protoss player the first thing you need to look out for is a proxy. Make sure to scout around your base and just outside of your base. After you have established that the Protoss player is not going to proxy you will need to focus and countering the strategy your opponent decides to go with.

The most common Protoss strategy is to use zealots/sentries/stalkers. If you see this coming you will need to mainly focus on getting roaches and hydralisks. I would not recommend using very many zerglings because the sentries can use force fields to keep them away from melee range while they and the stalkers take them out with ranged attacks. I would also stay away from mutalisks because they take a 100 gas to make and you will simply not be able to keep up with the stalkers that do good damage to air and only take 50 gas to make.

Use your roach/hyrdalisk army to keep the Protoss player from expanding while you expand. After this it's a simple matter of producing units faster then the Protoss player can. A smart Protoss player will switch to colossus because they are very good against roaches and hydralisks. If you see this coming then you should pump out a few corruptors as they do very good damage to air units and colossus can be attacked by air and ground.

Instead of going zealots/sentries/stalkers he may go for dark templars and try to surprise attack you before you have any overseers, so be sure to grab an overseer as soon as you can. And of course one of the favorite early attacks for Protoss is to cannon in and go for quick void rays, this is being used a lot right now because Zerg is weak against air in the early game. So make sure you scout them and build spore crawlers around your drones if you see this coming.

Becoming an advanced Starcraft 2 player is very challenging and confusing. I purchased the Starcraft 2 Advanced Strategy Guide from http://www.Star2Pros.com and I have been very impressed with the strategies they teach. I would highly recommend it to any Starcraft 2 player who wants to get to the top of the Diamond Ladders, I think this guide might be the only one of its kind.

Anyways, good luck to all of you and I hope to see you on BattleNet!
