Starcraft 2 - Effectively Using Creep

The Zerg's creep is one of the most underrated parts of the Zerg game. And yet it creates a huge advantage for the Zerg player that can't be overlooked, especially in the higher-level diamond ladders. Creep gives the Zerg player the following advantages. First, it gives a 30% movement bonus to the Zerg's units. Second, it will stop your opponent from expanding by not being able to build on the creep. Third, you can use the creep to build your spore and spine crawlers anywhere you want. Forth, you will have vision wherever you have creep so you will have a much better idea of what your opponent is doing because you can see most of the map.

So lets talk about the ways to spread creep, if you have ever watched a replay of a high level Zerg player you may have noticed that by the end of the game most of the map is covered in creep. How does he do this while of the same type keeping up with everything else he has to do during the game? Well Starcraft 2 makes it easy for us to spread creep by using our overlords. You first must upgrade to a Lair and then every overlord has the ability to spread creep. You can then turn it on so the overlords will spread creep automatically whenever they come to a stop somewhere. This makes it very easy for us to spread creep and the best part is that it is free.

I tend to send the overlords to the empty bases and wait for my opponent to try expanding. When they come to the empty base they may be able to kill the overlord but the creep will still stay on the ground for 30 seconds or so and they will have to just wait until it is gone to build.

Becoming an advanced Starcraft 2 player is very challenging and confusing. I purchased the Starcraft 2 Advanced Strategy Guide from Star2Pros.com and I have been very impressed with the strategies they teach. I would highly recommend it to any Starcraft 2 player who wants to get to the top of the Diamond Ladders, I think this guide might be the only one of its kind. Anyways, good luck to all of you and I hope to see you on BattleNet!
