So you want to learn the correct Terran counter units? In this guide I will show you the basics of countering as a Terran player when playing against Zerg and Protoss. This a general guide and is meant as an overview of the Terran counter units.
First we will talk about playing against a Zerg player. The Zerg could throw a few different units at you and one of them is the early zerglings attack. The correct Terran counter unit for this attack is the hellion as it will do very good damage to groups of ground units like the zergling. Another attack the Zerg likes to use is the roach and hydro combo. The best Terran counter unit for this is the tank and thor combo as they will simply destroy the Zerg attack. The last thing a Zerg player might try is the mutalisk attack in which case you should just make marines and if you have a starport build some vikings.
When playing against a Protoss player the first thing you should look for the is zealot and stalker combo. A good Terran unit counter for this is again the tank and thor combo, just make sure you have a few marines in front to protect the tanks. The Protoss player may try using colossus or immortals. To take out colossus just use thors as the colossus is not good at doing damage to large units. To destroy the immortals you will need to use marines and maybe some hellions, keep your tanks and thors away from the immortal as it is desgined to take down large units. Lastly he may try to use void rays and the perfect Terran counter unit for that is your vikings. Just build a few and you should have no trouble taking the void rays out.
If you learn these Terran counter units you should have no trouble beating even a diamond ladder Protoss or Zerg player!
Becoming an advanced Starcraft 2 player is very challenging and confusing. I purchased the Starcraft 2 Advanced Strategy Guide from Star2Pros.com and I have been very impressed with the strategies they teach. I would highly recommend it to any Starcraft 2 player who wants to get to the top of the Diamond Ladders, I think this guide might be the only one of its kind.
Anyways, good luck to all of you and I hope to see you on BattleNet!
