Starcraft 2 Zerg Vs Protoss - Beating Immortals

Comments (0)

One of the favorite units of a Protoss player is the immortal. Most Zerg players are cluelesss about how to take these guys down since they do such huge damage. The immortal has a few unique things about it that we need to talk about so we can understand how to beat it. First, the immortal has a special shield that will only let it take 10 damage per hit and anything over 10 damage is deflected. What does this mean to us? We can't use high damge units to fight an immortal. Second, the immortal does huge bonus damage to armored units so we must not send out armored units to fight it either.

Not understanding these things about the immortal has caused most Zerg players to just make a bunch of roaches and send them to their dealth against the immortal. Little do these Zerg players know that the roach is the worst possible unit to go up against the immortal because the roaches damage will be capped at 10 and the roach is armored so it will take massive hits from the immortals. So now that we know not to use roaches, what should we use? I would recommend staying away from hydralisks as well because some of the hydralisks damge will be deflected. Instead go back to the basics, speed upgraded zerglings are the perfect unit for crushing the immortals. Starcraft 2 has a funny way of bringing back the starting units and making them useful again later in the game and this is an example of that.

So when you see immortals coming toward you, pop out some zerglings and you should have no trouble handling them, plus if the Protoss player uses zealots to back up the immortals you get a double bonus because zerglings also do very well against zealots.

Becoming an advanced Starcraft 2 player is very challenging and confusing. I purchased the Starcraft 2 Advanced Strategy Guide from Star2Pros.com and I have been very impressed with the strategies they teach. I would highly recommend it to any Starcraft 2 player who wants to get to the top of the Diamond Ladders, I think this guide might be the only one of its kind. Anyways, good luck to all of you and I hope to see you on BattleNet!

Starcraft 2 Protoss Guide - The Power of Immortals

Comments (0)

The key to winning as a Protoss player is our ability to counter the units that the enemy throws at us. In this article we will look at the immortal and discover just how powerful they can be in the right situations. I will show you when to use immortals and when to stay away from them.

Immortals have two unique things about them that we need to understand before we go any further. The first is that the immortal has a special shield that will only allow it to take 10 damage and anything over 10 will be deflected. The second is the immortal's huge bonus damage to armored units. When you combine these two things together you get a unit that is perfect for killing large units such as thors or ultralisks. However the immortal will die quickly to groups of smaller units such as marines or zerglings.

So when you playing against a Terran player you would use immortals if you see a lot of thors or tanks. But don't make any immortals if the Terran player is using a lot of marines and marauders. Now when you are playing Zerg there is something that most Zerg players don't realize but roaches are an armored unit and they do a slow attack of 16 damage, which means they take massive damage from immortals and 6 points of their attacks on immortals will be deflected. So to sum it up, immortals will simply dominate roaches and do very well against hydralisks as well as ultralisks. However, zerglings take immortals out pretty fast so watch out for that and use colossus to handle the zerglings instead of immortals. So now you can see and understand why the immortal is such a useful unit in certain situations and should never be left out of your build order.

Zerg Vs Protoss - Beating Colossus and Immortals

Playing a Zerg vs Protoss game can be very frustrating if you don't know the correct counters for colossus and immortals. A good Protoss player will use either or both of these units during the game to counter us so we must know how to counter them. This guide will teach you the correct counters for the Protoss colossus and immortal.

First lets talk about the colossus. The colossus is a great unit for taking out groups of small units such as zerglings, roaches, or hydralisks. These are of course almost always the main attack units of a Zerg army so what unit do we need to use in order to take down a colossus? The answer is the infestor, the reason is because with the infestor's neural parasite ability we can take control of the colossus and turn it against the Protoss player for a short while. You can also use corruptors to attack the colossus, just watch out for stalkers.

Now what about the immortal, what do we use to take it down? The immortal is excellent at taking down roaches and ultralisks. The answer is speed-upgraded zerglings; also hydralisks are a decent choice for dealing with them as well.

Most Protoss players will use one of those two units in a game against Zerg so be ready for it and when you see them you will know what unit to use in order to kill them easily. If the Protoss player makes both of those units then you should go all air by making corruptors and mutalisks.
