Zerg Vs Protoss - Winning Against Sentries

When playing a Zerg vs Protoss game the sentries can spell disaster for us and our zergling army. Sentries are being used more and more online right now because of their ability to create walls around our zerglings and kill them without taking any damage. This guide will instruct you on how to deal with a Protoss player who is using mass sentries.

First off as soon as you realize that your opponent is going sentries you should stop making zerglings and fast tech to a lair and get hydralisks as your main attack unit. The reason we skip over roaches is because they are an armored unit and stalkers do extra damage to armored so they kill roaches pretty quickly but you need a ranged attack so you can hit the sentries even while behind the force fields they create. Also stay away from making mutalisks, as the sentries will take them out quickly as will the stalkers.

When you get some hydralisks attack the sentries, the trick is not getting your army in a small area that can be walled off. A good Protoss player will switch to colossus when they see your hydralisks so be sure you can pump out a few infestors if you need to, as they are the perfect counter for colossus. I would not recommend trying to attack the main Protoss base as they will wall it off and pick off your hydralisks. Instead just make sure you expand and keep them from expanding, this way you can starve them out.

Becoming an advanced Starcraft 2 player is very challenging and confusing. It can be a real challenge to win a Zerg vs Protoss game because of the Protoss ability to make the perfect counter units to whatever we might throw at them. If we make zerglings they make zealots and colossus. If we make roaches they make the perfect counter which is immortals. If we make hydralisks they make stalkers and colossus. Whatever we do they have the perfect counter right at their fingertips. So how do we win against Protoss? We win be simply out-producing and out-gathering them. This guide will show you how to beat a good Protoss player by using a starve strategy.

The key to this is expanding early and keeping the Protoss player from expanding. Start off the game and make a few zerglings to harass the Protoss player and keep him busy so he can't expand. Instead of upgrading to a lair use the minerals to expand. By delaying the lair upgrade you will not be able to defend against an air attack so make sure you check the Protoss base to see if he is going for a void rush. After the expansion is up and running switch to hydralisks and get an army together. I would also build a few corruptors as they are very good against colossus and void rays. Keep the Protoss player from expanding and just wait him out, don't attack his main base. After a while he will run out of minerals and have no other option but to attack you. You should have no problems beating him at this point because you are running with two bases while he only has one.
